I know I’ve been dormant for a little while, but here’s an update! Some of my work, as well as work from other artists from the area will be featured in the first PRHBTN Gallery Exhibition this friday in Lexington, KY. The opening reception will be at Buster’s in Lexington (899 Manchester Street, get those GPS’es ready folks) from 5-9p.m. Following the reception will be a full DJ set from national/local DJs. Hit the jump for more info about the event, hope to see you all out this weekend!
PRHBTN [proh-uh-bish-uh n]: A fusion of urban culture, art, and music.
More specifically, PRHBTN is a celebration of art forms that have been criminalized, marginalized, and underappreciated in the mainstream, featuring an exhibition of these works in a warehouse space that complements the raw, powerful nature of the message and the artistry of each piece and benefits the community.
Between November 11 -16, 2011, PRHBTN will bring together a regional community of seasoned art lovers and those new to the genre of so-called “street art” by showcasing local, regional, and national, artists, musicians, and businesses intrinsic to urban culture. The event will feature more than 30 such artists, whose work can be previewed at www.prhbtn.com. 30% of the sale of each piece will be donated to one of the following five local charities: The Bluegrass Trust For Historic Preservation, The Carnegie Center For Literacy and Learning, The Lexington Living Arts and Sciences Center, Progress Lex, and the Lexington Art League.
PRHBTN’s 11-11-11 opening kicks-off with a reception for artists and friends from 5-9pm. This portion of the evening is sponsored in part by Green’s Toyota of Lexington.
Doors are at 9pm for the dance party of the year, featuring a dj set by Passion Pit, accompanied by local/regional favorites Brocktologist, DJ Warren Peace, whirling lights, all things that glow in the dark, and other surprises.
